Save your boots…
All leather boots and Converse sneakers are kindly requested to stay at home. The snowdrifts are melting and it’s weather for wellingtons only…

Doing nothing…
Oh what a wonderful extended weekend this has been; Thursday to Sunday. Just my cup of tea!
Except from our daily expedition to the nearby general shop – and an extra walk in the snow – just for pleasure – we have been home all days doing as little as possible. That is: drinking tea, reading books, newspapers, magazines, drawing, cooking, crocheting, playing games, playing music. No obligations, no plans. It has been a perfect time out. There’s only one thing to complain about: it’s coming to an end now… the snow is melting…

On my way…
The Road goes ever on and on
Down from the door where it began.
Now far ahead the Road has gone,
And I must follow if I can,
Pursuing it with eager feet,
Until it joins some larger way
Where many paths and errands meet,.
And whither then? I cannot say.

A white day
The schools have been closed today due to snow and we’ve all got an unexpected day off! Hurrah!
It has been a wonderful, silent and relaxing day. We do like the cats now: curl up in the sofa and enjoy life!
And then I’ve just got an e-mail from Kestutis telling that the catalogue from the 3rd Collage Exhibition has got a prize for Most Beautiful Lithuanian Books at Vilnius Book Fair today. Only 15 books from all Lithuanian publishing houses have got a prize – not bad!
And then he adds: Here in Lithuania we have -25 -30C! Compared to Lithuania I guess this can hardly be called “winter” . Anyway, we like it and hope the snow will stay a week or two…

Hibernating in the sofa
Okay, in general it has been a very mild winter here – but right now it has begun snowing: wet and heavy snow flakes are pouring down and the roads are all slippery and soapy. Actually we were on our way to city this afternoon – but we passed so many cars in the ditch, we decided to postpone the weekly piano lesson and return home.
Now Emily has been calling from the bus. She’s stuck somewhere between Århus and Malling. Usually the bus arrives in 25 minutes but today it’ll take at least one hour or so…
Cats know what to do on a day like this: simply curl up in a cosy corner. Ignore all external demands and expectations: No piano lessons, no bus rides, no nothing. Just relax – and enjoy a little power nap next to the radiator or stove; forget about the wet, white and cold world outside!

Index
Today I found a Card Generator via Il Bloggo and made this virtual index card. Especially I like the typewriter typography - it reminds me of my god old Torpedo!
The whole concept and lay out of actually kick-started me on creating some real index cards for registration, developing and organizing ideas.
For instance I’m in the process of organizing some crafty workshops in the near future – and I realize I could need to work in a more structured way with that project. Maybe a box of index cards is just what I need to get along with my plans…

End of the winter holyday…
Let me say “Goodbye” to the winter’s holydays with this bunch of zinc boxes sniffed out at Von Otto´s (a local second-hand dealer I discovered recently). They are just the perfect size for storing papers and stuff.
And notice the little flower vase – a gift from Anna. It’s wickerwork made out of newspaper! Okay there’s a small glass inside to make it waterproof, but isn’t it cute? I’d love to learn how to make this sort of little baskets/vases!

A late “Happy Valentin”
A heart of stone is what I’ll give you today. Found it two weeks ago walking at the beach. A gift from the sea? Now it’s all yours!
Who says Valentin´s day is a commercial phenomenon nowadays?

Want to see my new shoes and cardigan?!
I usually don’t buy clothes via mail-order but I decided to give it a try when I got a bunch of catalogues from Gudren Sjödén – a Swedish designer whose style and colours I like very much.
And I must admit: it’s easygoing. You sit at home with a nice catalogue, order a few things – then wait for the post to bring it. Finally… when the parcel arrives, it’s almost like getting an extra Christmas gift!

Recycled covers

Today I designed this file cover – a simple redesign project made out of recycled materials.

I’m always in search for ways to organize my papers, patterns, photos, sketches and notes; otherwise they end up in huge piles on my desk! Recently I inherited a bunch of old cardboard covers and I decided they could be excellent files for all my paper stuff although they certainly needed some customizing. Clear blue and red cardboard covers might be very practical but not very appealing to your sense of aesthetics, so I decided to wrap it all up in old fabric.
I have a lot of bits and pieces really too small for proper projects – but still too nice to throw away. So I made a design, glued the fabric directly on the cardboard and sewed a row of zigzag stitches around every single piece of cloth. (To get the entire cover into the sewing machine was the most tricky part of the process, but with a little patience it’s absolutely possible). Finally I added a pocket on the inside of the cover for postcards and small items. So here it is: my new and very personal file.
It´s now going to contain one of my collections of inspirational stuff, but since I have still piles on the desk I think I´ll make more covers.
