White, Pale Pastels – and a small drop of Red
Today this magazine hit my mailbox. What a wonderful surprice!
I’ve been so busy lately I had totally forgotten I sent some White, Pale Pastels – and a small drop of Red stuff to Somerset Studio more than 6 months ago. But here it is!
P.S. I went to visit my granddad this afternoon. It was funny to show him my article as I´ve used a portrait of him and my Grandma to illustrate my article. I think he was a little proud … being published…

Pleace, take a seat…
The result of last weeks deck chair make-over…
I ended up fixing the seat onto the frames with a very efficient nail gun. I can recommend the method: it’s fast and easy.

At the tropic of Cancer
The very longest day of the year, at the tropic of Cancer, my Granddad got 91.
We went to visit him at Saxild where he resides some weeks this summer right next to this sandy beach, so even though it wasn’t exactly sunshine some of the guests got themselves a swim after the traditional coffee, tea and strawberry layer cake table…

How to cope with a deadline
Spend a nice afternoon and evening with Gulla & Lis, two friends and colleagues from Artrovert, another art group of mine…
We missed Heidi who’s expecting her first child in August, but we wouldn’t postpone the meeting once again. It takes a lot of effort for 4 very active people to agree on a day to meet, and we haven’t been together for more than half a year now, so there were a lot of subjects to catch up upon.
One thing we managed to find a solution for was the deadline for next years collage exhibition in Vilnius. None of us felt ready to submit our work in two days, so we simply mailed Kestutis Vasiliunas and asked for permission to send a little later!
I hate to break a deadline – and I´d really hate to miss this one – but I also hate to send a piece when I don’t feel satisfied with the result.
Now I got the possibility to let my “Every night the same” collage develop in a more reasonable manner. And it’s a very big piece this time, so I feel quite relieved I must admit!

Deck chair make over
I got 2 deck chairs at the flea marked recently.
Woodwork and seats were in an okay condition – but the colours were dull – a not so flattering dark brown and a greyish ditto so I decided to redo both chairs.

A layer of white paint – and 2 new seats made out of 2.nd hand fabric and embroidery and a back of a new and strong canvas is what I’ve done so far. Now I only have to figure out the best way to connect the fabric to the wooden frames.
Think I’ll buy some little brass nails today…
P.S. Click here to see the result…

Garden office
It’s summer now and I love to work out in the open – here at my garden office! So many things need to be done before summer holidays start in only two weeks!
Some days I rise very early to do some writing at my book – before going to school. I want 1.th draft ready before going to Paris.
Morning´s my favourite time of the day. I love the feeling of possibilities waiting to unfold; I love to breathe the pure air, the quietness and calmness of the dawn and the sound of the birds rising.
Soon, very soon it’s Midsummer and the beautiful songs will stop…

w.w.k.i.p.day in Århus
Estimated 50 knitters and supporters met today in the gentle shadows of the threes of the small park in front of the Music house. Men, women, old, middle-aged, young, even kids were knitting, talking, networking and enjoying an afternoon in good company.
I’m very happy about the way this event developed just the way I´d dreamed it would. So, I definitely dare say: See you – same time, same place – next year!
P.S. The radio P4 turned up and made a live broadcast. The young reporter promised to send me a link so you can go and hear it. I’ll put it here as soon as I get it!

Ready to knit
The weather is perfect summer here – means tomorrow’s w.w.k.i.p.day will definitely be an outdoor event!
I’m preparing a selection of knitting inspiration, extra needles and yarn. My favourite local knitting shop has even agreed to sponsor a bunch of high quality cotton yarn if somebody happens to drop by without their own stuff!
Tonight I’ll pack some plaids, pillows and folding chairs - and bake a real big box of spicy cookies…
It’s going to be a great day – please, feel free, come and join in!

Still in progress…
I won‘t say I miscalculate the time it takes. I only realize that somehow I always tend to be on the optimistic side of the timetable; I simply expect things to develop faster!
Fact is, my work is still in progress – but not finished.
I’m doing the quilting and trimming the edges – in between writing notes and instructions for my book. I want to get as far as possible with the text part before going to Paris. In Paris I want to concentrate on adventures – not on writing!
Okay, I also face still a few weeks of teaching. However, summer holiday is on its way. I definitely can make it out in the horizon!
