Deeply impressed!

Posted in Magazines, My book at 2:54 pm by hanne

The first three people who don’t speak a word in Danish have ordered a copy of my book, prepared to suck inspiration from the very illustrations and lay out whatsoever – and maybe to catch a hint of a sentence or two with a little help from a dictionary! Hey guys, I’m really impressed by your enthusiasm!

For those of you who stick to reading in English there’s a chance if you have an access to one of the following new  publications: “Artists Café” and “Somerset memories”.

“Artists Café” features the best of Somerset Studio Art & Design and from the Mélange department they have picked – and reprinted – yes, my article about art-money. I have updated the article slightly and added a few news about BIAM.  (More pictures here)

In “Somerset Memories” some of my collages are featured in the article” Painted & stitched memories” where I’m talking about my thoughts and ideas of journaling in the form of collages and how to actually ake it. Hope you’ll feel inspired to start your own keep-a-record-of-the-day-project.

In exactly one month…

Posted in Christmas, Family, Projects at 6:58 pm by hanne

Let´s face it: X-mas´s only one month away!

We are sitting in the kitchen. It’s only 5 o’clock but totally dark outside. In here at least ten candles are lightning. The characteristic smell of mandarins is in the air. A quiet, blissfull afternoon. Emile is doing her homework and I’m writing a synopsis for my next book project. I’ll talk to my publisher about it on Monday. Ideas are virtually sprinkling from my mind. It would be nice to have a “go” from Olivia. Now, let’s see…

Usually we never unpack the box of Christmas stuff until 1.th December but yesterday I had to go and take out a few items in order to make some sort of X-mas-count-down-calendar for Anna Sofie in London. Nothing advanced, just a 3 meter red and white string embellished with 24 caramels wrapped in golden paper + a few selected paper stars, glass globes, fabric hearts and ornaments tied on in between. The big idéa is to hang the string in the window where it will look great. And to eat one (and only one!) caramel a day.

Immediately Emilie asked if I would make for her too. Of course I will!

One more quilt is on its way…

Posted in Projects, Quilts at 1:33 pm by hanne

Well, I spared the templets from my first 6-star quilt – and reused it all for one more! I expect this one to be ready around Christmas time. I guess it´s going to be a present for …

I’ve made up my mind: selling collages and supplies side by side – no problem! So come on and let these shades of red, pink, pale blue, green and golden vintage sewing thread inspire you… to start creating your own quilt, stitched collage or something totally different…

The joy of realizing ones ideas

Posted in On my way..., web shop at 3:31 pm by hanne

To have a dream or an idea and to actually realize it always gives me such a kick! This week I have finally started my web shop – and it has been so much fun – I don’t understand why I didn’t do it before!

Okay, there have been some lessons to learn – especially concerning how to deal with the financial transactions. However, everybody involved have been most sweet and kind and now it seems everything is working just great!

I have uploaded one more bundle of my collages, December’s collages, and still the reason there are “gabs” in the dates, is because some of the collages were sold in advance.

Also I have packed and tagged some of the vintage sewing thread I bought at a flea market this summer. But I haven’t really decided if I should sell it at etsy. I wonder if the shop gets too “messy” with a little of this, a little of that if I start selling materials, do-it-yourself-kit etc. Maybe I should stick to artwork only?!

Think I need to take a walk and make up my mind. The air is so clear and bright today – I’m sure it’s going to help.

Welcome to my web shop

Posted in web shop at 3:50 pm by hanne

Welcome to “Made By Hanne”. It has been my intention for a very long time to start some sort of web shop and now it is here!

For a start I have uploaded some of the collages from my Vilnius exhibition. They are a sort of journal or diary. Each collage represents one day of a year. The ciphers show the dates and the reason I don’t put up all dates from 1st to 30th November is because some of them have been sold in advance. However, soon I´ll be back with more!

Please have a look…

Sunday in Copenhagen

Posted in Do redo, Friends, Inspiration, My book at 3:01 pm by hanne

Lunch and talk at Café Thé à la Menthe, coffeee, cakes and more talk at Norden. Exhibitions – and discussions – at Møstings House, Hofteatret, and Gl. Strand.

Tjekking out and commenting on “my” window at Politikens Boghandel, Rådhuspladsen.

Ripping posters and stickers and collecting street junk and scrap (for upcoming Artists´ Books about Copenhagen – will show you the results later) and finally an excellent dinner at Gulla´s place before Lis and I returned home with a late - and delayed – train. I was not in my bed until 4.30 in the morning/night. I still feel sort of tired – but also full of new impressions and energy!

Yes and now I haven´t even told you about my Saturday witch was equally inspiring: A one day workshop here in Århus with Katarina Brieditis & Katarina Evans, the two crafters and designers who came up with the ideas for Do-redo/ How-to-butcher-a-woollen-sweater. It was a marvellous, high-energy workshop and I´m loaded with ideas and designs I hope to find time to carry out – and tell more about – later.

(NB. notice the pale blue woollen thing I´m wearing around my neck at the Cafe photo – it´s made at the workshop – a real favourite piece, I can tell already).
